Introduction

The purpose of the Institute of Applied Computing and Community Code (IAC3) of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) is to contribute to the interdisciplinary science of scientific and commercial simulation. As part of this contribution, the IAC3 develops open source code. Grid Systems, S.A. (GridSystems) and the UIB are the stakeholders behind the IAC3. GridSystems is contributing financially and technically to sustain the IAC3.

    • Prof. Carles Bona is the appointed acting director of the IAC3. He leads a group specialized in numerical simulations of the Einstein equations (numerical relativity) and gravitational wave astronomy.

    • Dr. Antonio Arbona Nadal is the appointed acting deputy manager of the IAC3, where he leads the developments in computer science.

    • Prof. Josep Lluís Ballester Mortes heads a group specialized in simulation in the area of Solar Physics.

    • Prof. Bartomeu Coll is the Principal Investigador of the TAMI Group, specialized in the processing of digital images.
